Preparations have begun for the юбилейный Issyk-Kul International Forum to be held in 2026.

On September 2, 2025, a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the юбилейный Issyk-Kul International Forum took place at the Yntymak Ordo State Residence, the building of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the Issyk-Kul International Forum, first held in 1986 on the initiative of Chyngyz Aitmatov, became a significant event in the history of Kyrgyzstan and gained wide international recognition. The forum has evolved into an authoritative intellectual platform for writers, scholars, public officials, and cultural figures, where key issues of the present and the future of humanity are discussed.

Special attention was given to the importance of holding the anniversary forum 40 years after its first session in the context of contemporary global challenges.

“Today, the world is experiencing a deep crisis in international relations and requires a new understanding of development paths through a non-aligned, universal humanistic approach. Discussions should focus on the interaction between the Global North and the Global South, climate change, and the rapid development of technologies, including artificial intelligence. As four decades ago, the Issyk-Kul Forum should once again bring together globally recognized thinkers, writers, scientists, and cultural figures to discuss the challenges facing humanity and propose new ideas for our shared future,” noted Edil Baisalov.

The Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mirbek Mambetaliev, informed participants about the development of a preparation and implementation plan for the anniversary forum in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic dated August 2, 2025, No. 256.

During the discussion, members of the Organizing Committee—including representatives of government bodies, the academic community, and the cultural sector—put forward proposals and outlined concrete steps to organize the forum at the highest level.

It was noted that the юбилейный Issyk-Kul International Forum in 2026 will become one of the key events during the Kyrgyz Republic’s chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, contributing significantly to strengthening the country’s international standing and fostering cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
